About the Southern Nevada Chapter

100 Women Who Care Southern Nevada

Driven by the desire to make a difference and inspired by other great 100+ Women Who Care (WWC) groups around the United States, Canada and the world, we have created a local philanthropic group of fabulous women who are capable of doing great things in our community.

The Concept

Founded on August 28, 2018, 100 Women Who Care Southern Nevada is one of more than 350 similar groups located worldwide that focus on coordinating funding for local, community charitable organizations. We gather at quarterly meetings to hear three short presentations on local nonprofits in need. Members vote and each person donates $100 to the winning nonprofit chosen for a collective, impactful donation.

The chapter was founded by and is run entirely by volunteers and 100% of each member’s committed donations go directly to the chosen charity.

A Big Impact

100+ women x $100 = $10,000+ for a local charity in 1 hour – 4 times per year (quarterly). Our members come from all over the Las Vegas metro and surrounding area to participate. Our goal as a chapter is to donate $500,000 in five (5) years to local nonprofit organizations. This is our inaugural year and we are excited to make a difference in Southern Nevada!

How It Works

• Four (4) times per year our members show up to give BIG.

• At each meeting, the three (3) nonprofits randomly drawn at the previous meeting will be given the opportunity to make a short presentation, of up to five (5), to the group about their mission and why it is deserving of the members’ vote. *If the nonprofit is unavailable to present at the meeting one of our Founding Volunteers will present on their behalf, or we may ask the nominating member to present if they wish. Members will have the opportunity to ask questions after each presentation.

• After the presentations and Q&A, an anonymous ballot is held and the nonprofit with the most votes will be the recipient, and each member or team writes a $100 check made out to the nonprofit with the most votes.

• Members who are not in attendance must either send a blank check with another member or contact the chapter for instructions and information on the selected nonprofit. Members that are unable to attend are encouraged to inform the chapter prior to the meeting. Proxy nominations and votes will be accepted if the chapter is notified before the meeting starts.

• All the checks are collected by the Founding Volunteers and presented to the selected nonprofit at the meeting. *If the nonprofit is not in attendance the checks will be presented within ten (10) days of the meeting. The member who nominated the recipient nonprofit will be asked to participate in the presentation of the donations.

• The selected nonprofit will be invited back to the next meeting to share with members the BIG impact their donations have made.

• Each member, as well as guests, will then have the opportunity to nominate a nonprofit for the next meeting. Three (3) nonprofits will be randomly drawn from the nominations.

• Guests are welcome to attend any meeting and we encourage them to donate to the selected nonprofit at the meeting, however, you must be a member to vote for the night’s selected nonprofit. We may impose limits on the number of meetings any one (1) guest may attend without becoming a member.

Guidelines

• The selected nonprofit is not eligible to be nominated again for twelve (12) months. The member may nominate a new nonprofit for consideration at future meetings. The other two (2) nonprofits may be nominated again at future meetings.

• Two-way ties will be decided by one more round of votes. If a tie persists, the two names that are tied will go back in the hat and the recipient will be drawn at random.

• The selected nonprofit must agree not to give out member information to any third parties or add them to their mailing list for future solicitation.

• The selected nonprofit must agree to send charitable tax receipts to our members. Members are responsible for ensuring their current address is on or attached to their check if they want a receipt. Tax receipts are provided by the nonprofit directly to the members. 100+ WWC is not responsible for sending the tax receipts to members.

• Note: Donations made directly to the selected nonprofit and online donations do not count towards the member’s commitment unless a receipt of the donation is emailed to our Founding Volunteers.

Nonprofits must be:

• Locally based in the Southern Nevada Area.

• A 501(c)(3) exempt organization and be registered as a Nonprofit Corporation with the Nevada Secretary of State. *Organizations who meet the 501(c)(3) requirements based on their “religious” purpose will not be eligible for consideration. 501(c)(3) religious organizations include churches, conventions and associations of churches, integrated auxiliaries of churches, nondenominational ministries, interdenominational and ecumenical organizations, and other entities whose principal purpose is the study or advancement of religion.

• An established nonprofit organization and be willing to share financial information, including financial statements, Form 990 tax returns and the initial application for exemption.

• Actively engaged in the community and executing their mission statement.

• National or international nonprofits will not be considered, as the focus is on contributing to our local community. Organizations with a national association may be nominated provided the request is for a project to be delivered in Southern Nevada.

• Final approval of nonprofit nominations is at the discretion of the Founding Volunteers.
